Review of my project

My Final Video.

I am pleased with the way my final video has turned out, it shows the magical nature of Cadbury would, a world of chocolate.

The video shows an alternative design for an interactive chocolate train station that could be visited on the way to Cadbury world. whilst still allowing the magic of Cadbury world to only be revealed when the factory is in fact visited.

one part of my Video i like is the fact that the train station that i filmed is complexly made out of Chocolate that is made by Cadbury. I believe this is a nice contrast to the train station platforms that are in fact a Bournville and do not refer to the relation to the Cadbury factory or there past.

My Final Poster.

Overall i am very pleased with how my poster (print project) has turned out. it shows multiple different skills, including Collage, Screen Prints, Lino Cuts and the creation of my QR Code in Chocolate.

There is a definite theme that runs through my poster... Purple, Cadbury Purple. I thought that i made sense to include a lot of the purple colour into my poster as that colour is easily recognise by many people as being the "Cadbury" colour.

one problem i encountered with my poster is was creating the QR Code, the size of my QR Code grew as i was sticking down the individual squares for the code. so the QR Code in the end ended up being more rectangular that square as it is supposed to be to successfully scan. therefore this QR Code doesn't scan.

Additional research

Different types of Cadbury chocolate from  across the world.

I was interested to look at the variations in different Cadbury. Chocolate as it is created in different factories across the world.

Irish Cadbury Chocolate:

Australian Cadbury Chocolate:

British Cadbury Chocolate, since Kraft took over:

how much difference or similarities are there in the different Cadbury Chocolate bars that are made in the different factories across the world??

Irish Cadbury has made a chocolate bar called "Dairy Milk Honeycomb" but how different id it to the Cadbury "Crunchie" bar. They have also made a chocolate bar called "Dairy Milk Caramello" but how different is it to the Cadbury "Dairy Milk Caramel" bar. They have also made a "Dairy Milk Tiffin" bar that very much resembles aspects of a "Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut" bar, as they both contain raisins and a chunkier element to the bar, either nuts in the fruit and nut bar of biscuit in the tiffin bar.

Australian Cadbury has made a bar that harks back to a much older bar that was made by "Fry's" which joined with Cadbury, "Dairy milk Snack" bar is filled will different flavoured creams in each cube, this is reminiscent of at "Fry's Cream" bar. Australia's Cadbury bar the "Dairy Milk Black Forest" contains elements that have been typically associated with other Cadbury recipes, it contains the popular choice raisins as well as the newer idea of adding jelly beans or jelly like elements to a bar.

so how original are they being??

Making my poster - Print Project

screen print

I took a screen shot from my video, and changed it onto black and white and then I bitmap the image.

My image was the exposed onto a silk screen, i them printed it in Red and cadbury Purple.

lino cut
These are the lino cuts i made to create the text to go on my Poster.

these are the prints that were created from the lino cuts i made.

I think the lino cut i did of the Cadbury's logo was my most successful lino cut, as it clearly resembles the Cadbury logo. It also demonstrates a lot of skill and control with my Lino cutting.

I initially tried two versions of the Cadbury logo, one with the bottom half of the lino cut removed and one without. I also altered the text type on the one lino cut to a more authentic version of the Cadbury logo, traced from a box of Cadbury chocolate for authenticity.

I then decided I would try printing the lino cuts in yellow as well as the classical Cadbury purple colour, but I didn't like the qualities it gave too the prints

I also printed a slogan type lino cut for my poster "A true chocolate adventure" I tried printing this lino cut in a variety of colours (purple/yellow) I also printer one version of the lino cut in a slightly lighter press of in which gave my lino cut print an old fashioned an look.

I also printed signs saying "boarding at" and "platform 1 1/2" which would insinuate to the idea of a train station subtly on my poster. I tried this lino print in purple and yellow too.

the "Platform 1 1/2" idea comes from the Cadbury slogan of  a Cup and a half of milk in each standard bar of Dairy Milk.

Collage

I created a collage out of Cadbury wrappers form well known cadbury chocolates, as the background for my poster. I chose to use "CurlyWurly" wrappers, "Dairy Milk" wrappers, "Fudge" wrappers and "Fredo" wrappers. i chose these wrappers because they all have very similar colours in there wrappers an i thought they would create a good background.

QR Code

this QR code is linked to my advertisement video (chocolate train station fly trough video) which is posted on Vimeo.

trhe QR Code is made up of 29 squares in with and 29 blocks in length

!
this QR Code square is made up of 404 white squares and 437 black squares.

I am going to use white chocolate for the white squares and milk chocolate for the black squares.

i bought a silicone mould to make mini chocolate bars, with little squares.

i then melted milk chocolate and poured it into the silicone mould and let it set.

creating these mini chocolate bars.

i then repeated this process to make mini white chocolate bars.

i then broke the mini chocolate bars up unto single squares to re-create the QR code in Chocolate.

this is my final QR Code created in Chocolate.

Unfortunately for one reason or another i wont scan with a QR Scanner.
it may not work because the QR Code i made out of chocolate is no longer square, it is also not made in the typical black and white colouration.

Filming my train station for my video

Screen Shots of my first Chocolate Train Station Video

My first video Fly Through of my Chocolate Train Station.

I chose to use the instrumental version of 'Pure imagination'. one of the song from the original 'Willy Wonka  and the Chocolate Factory'.

I decided to re-film this Video with a different background, instead of having a white background to my station, I created a background using the classic Cadbury Colours. Purple and Chocolate Brown. I also filled the canal with lots and lots of jelly beans and Smarties, instead of just a small scattering of them.

Screen shots of my second Chocolate Train station Video

My second video Fly Through of my Chocolate Train Station.

for the second filming of my Video i changed the background of my Train station to include fabric that is the typical Cadbury colour. When i filmed my video i utilised the focus on my camera so that my video would go in and out of focus to focus in and out aspects of my train station.

When editing my video on premier pro i chose to make the fist section of my video very fleeting and un focused so that it is not until later on in my video that you find out that it is actually a train station and train.

I made sure that the transitions between different sections of my video fitted with the different transitional changes in the music i chose for my video.

aspects of my video may appear to be blurry and pixelated but i wanted to have a magical feel in my video where the Chocolate kingdom is only ever alluded to, and the idea that you actually have to visit Cadbury world to experience the who Chocolate world and not just watch the video.
